[Copyright notices do not appear during actual game play] Download And Install Directions Click Here or on the link above, and download the Smashteroids Installer. Run the Installer by Double Clicking on it. Follow the on-screen instructions. When the installer finishes, you can run Smashteroids by clicking on the 'Start' button and selecting 'Programs->Smashteroids->Smashteroids'. Game Setup When you run Smashteroids you'll initially be presented with the Title Screen. Press any button or the Space bar to advance to the Game Setup Screen. On this screen, push up/down on the keyboard or any joystick to move the Selection Gem around. Press the Enter key or any joystick button to change the option to the right of the Selection Gem. Move any joystick or the indicated keyboard controls left and right to select a player to control. When you have the options set to your liking, and have selected your player(s) move the Selection Gem down until it is to the right of the word 'Start' and press the Enter key or any joystick button. Play Modes The basic game mode. Each player starts with 3 lives. Play lasts until all players have run out of lives. Each player starts with 3 lives. If a player with no lives remaining dies, 100 points are subtracted from his/her score. The player with the highest score after 4 waves of play wins. Each player starts with 3 lives. If a player with no lives remaining dies, 100 points are subtracted from his/her score. The player with the highest score after 4 waves of play wins. Each player starts with 3 lives. If a player with no lives remaining dies, 100 points are subtracted from his/her score. The player with the highest score after 5 minutes of play wins. Each player starts with 3 lives. If a player with no lives remaining dies, 100 points are subtracted from his/her score. The player with the highest score after 10 minutes of play wins. Death match style play. Each player starts with 3 lives. The player who finishes a round after all other players have run out of lives wins. If the last living player dies with out finishing the current round, all players lose. Difficulty Settings Adjusting the difficulty setting up/down will increase/decrease the challenge Cap and the Gang face. Player Controls Up to four players can play Smashteroids at one time. Each player has a setting for the character and control device he/she will be using. For keyboard controls, the relevant keys will be shown. Players opt into a game and select their character by pushing left and right on their controller at the 'Game Setup' screen. Once the game begins players steer their character's rocket ship by pushing left and right. Forward thrust is applied by pushing the first joystick button or the 'Up', 'W' or 'I' key. Holding down the second joystick button or the indicated key will activate a player's sheilds. Sheilds can only be activated for a short time before they need to be recharged. The green bar beneath a player's score on the top of the screen indicates their remaining sheild strength. Touching another player or an asteroid with sheilds on will smash them. Touching another player or an asteroid without sheilds on will kill the player. If two players collide with both their sheilds on, they will bounce off one another. Points are scored by smashing asteroids and collecting gems. Players advance to the next wave after all the large asteroids have been smashed and their gems collected. Scoring Collecting a gem = 100 points Smashing a large stroid = 20 points Smashing a small stroid = 10 points About the Author Scott Matott lives in Chicago, Il USA, where he works as a Network Engineer.
