Difficulty Settings
Adjusting the difficulty setting up/down will increase/decrease the number of baddies and fireballs Cap and the Gang face.
Control Styles
Cap Bros features two control styles to choose from.
Players are encouraged to try both styles out and choose the one
they like best.
Easy Controls
This control style allows the player to gather speed and/or change directions while jumping.
This creates a control style and feel similar to Super Mario Bros. and other later generation platform titles.
This is the control style that will feel natural to most players at first.
Classic Controls
This control style does not allow players to gather speed and/or change directions while jumping.
This means that a player must gather speed before jumping to hop on platforms and such.
This control style mimics that of the original Mario Bros. title, and is more difficult to master.
This is the control style that Mario Bros. purists and those looking for a greater challenge will prefer.
Player Options
Up to four players can play Cap Bros at one time.
Each player has a setting for the character and control device he/she will be using.
For keyboard controls, the relevant keys will be shown.
For joystick control devices, the name of the joystick as it appears in the Windows 'Joyticks' or 'Gaming Options' control panel.
Pushing left or right on a controller will cause the character assigned to that controller to run. This can help identify which joystick is which.
To play with less than four players, simply set the character of the player(s) to be left out to 'Not Playing'.
Game Play
In Cap Bros, players vie for points by bopping and then kicking baddies.
Basic running and jumping is done by pressing the assigned keys, or pushing left/right and the first button on the selected joystick.
To 'bop' a villian, follow these simple directions:
Stand beneath the platform a villian is on.
As the villian crosses above you jump and hit the platform beneath him/her.
The villian will flip over and bounce in the air, when it lands, go kick it!
Note: some villains have to be bopped twice before they'll flip over.
If a flipped villain is bopped from below, it will flip back over again.
If a villian sits flipped over for too long, it will flip itself over and get angrier.
Villians show their anger by changing colors and moving faster.
On higher levels or difficulty settings, villains will start out angry.
Every time a villian is kicked off the board a bonus coin will spawn.
Coins can be collected by touching them or bopping them from below.
Fireballs spawn randomly, although more often on higher difficult settings.
Fireballs can be bopped from below by hitting a platform underneath them as they make contact with it.
Icees come out on later levels and will turn the platforms into slippery ice if they are not bopped first.
Scoring
Flipping a Villain = 10 points
Kicking a Flipped Villain = 800 points
Bonus Coin = 800 points
Fireball = 1000 points
Icee = 500 points
Dying = -800 points [Select Tournament Modes Only]
